RSVP-matching community needs with committed volunteers."
The heart and soul of ElderCircle lives within
its volunteers. Nearly every program ElderCircle offers involves
volunteers in some manner. The agency is stronger and more
successful because dedicated people selflessly give of their time and
skills.
ElderCircle
and RSVP offer volunteer placements throughout Itasca and Koochiching
Counties. Below is a general list of volunteer placements and
activities for your review. If you have a specific task in mind
please contact us!
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES
- Advocacy (provide tax aide and insurance counseling;
AARP Driver Safety courses; financial management for seniors)
- Meeting basic human needs (small home repairs for low
income seniors, knit and crochet afghans, caps, mittens, hats and
scarves, recruit blood donors)
- Working with children/youth (mentor youth, help with
writing and reading skills, care for babies while teenage parents
attend school, special projects)
- Hunger/nutrition (preparing and serving meals, work
at food shelves and food banks, shop for and deliver groceries to
homebound seniors, deliver prepared meals)
- Support and companionship (volunteer at nursing
homes, hospice, hospitals, senior centers)
- Transportation (drive seniors to out of town medical
appointments)
- Community events
- Entertainment
- Mailings (help with bulk mailings for non-profit
agencies, assemble educational packets)
VOLUNTEER PLACEMENTS
ElderCircle and RSVP volunteers are referred to
non-profit agencies as requests are received. Volunteer assignments
include:
- Health care facilities (for example; hospitals,
nursing homes, hospice)

 Senior-focused
programs (i.e. dining centers, senior centers, transportation programs,
tax counseling, money management, home delivered meals)
- Libraries
- Schools
- Museums
- Food banks/food shelves
RSVP and ElderCircle offer
long-term, short-term, occasional, and temporary placements.
