ElderCircle provides a variety of programs and
services to help seniors remain independent and in their homes.
Some of the services help the caregivers and family members who are
caring for a senior. Contact ElderCircle with inquiries or if you
wish to request any of these services.
ADULT DAY SERVICE

This day respite program is for individuals who
need assistance with daily living activities. Transportation can be
arranged to bring participants to the center where they can socialize
with others, enjoy activities and have individual needs met.
Caring staff is available to meet the needs of each person in the
program.
ALZHEIMER'S/MEMORY LOSS SUPPORT GROUP

Family, friends, caregivers, and other
interested individuals meet for mutual emotional support, to gain
knowledge about memory loss, and to exchange coping skills with one
another in matters relating to Alzheimer's disease. The Alzheimer's
Association provides ongoing education.
BUNDLED SERVICES

 The Bundled Services program delivers frozen Meals on
Wheels meals, NAPS (Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors) boxes,
groceries, library materials, drug store items, and hardware items to
frail, homebound seniors. This service allows seniors to have items
delivered right to their doors, providing them with nutritional food
and other supportive items that allow them to stay healthy and in their
homes.

CHORE SERVICE

Provides
financial assistance for lawn mowing and snow
removal to seniors who qualify based on income guidelines.
Seniors choose their own provider.
GROCERIES-TO-GO

 Homebound
seniors or disabled persons phone their grocery
orders in to the ElderCircle office on Tuesday mornings. Volunteers
shop and deliver these orders on Wednesday mornings. Participants mail
payment directly to the store where their groceries were purchased.
There is no exchange of money at the time of delivery. Groceries-to-Go
is provided at no cost to participants.

HEALTH CARE DIRECTIVE

Completing a Health Care Directive is
important for all adults. The document states one's wishes when he or
she is unable to speak for themselves. ElderCircle staff can provide
copies of the Health Care Directive and confidentially assist in its
completion.
RESPITE

The ElderCircle Respite program provides respite care
to caregivers with a family member 60+ who is considered to be frail
and should not be left home alone. Respite gives family members
time away and temporarily relieves the stress experienced when caring
for a family member. This is a companionship model of non-skilled
care. Grant dollars help families pay for this service.

 ElderCircle
sponsors the RSVP program in Itasca and Koochiching Counties.
ElderCircle RSVP offers adults 55+ a wide variety of volunteer
opportunities to apply skills, talents, and life experiences to help
meet community needs. Volunteers may choose temporary,
occasional, or long-term placements. RSVP offers pre-service
orientation, in-service training, free supplemental insurance while
volunteering, and on going recognition and support. Volunteers
may also claim mileage reimbursement.
RSVP HANDYHANDS

The RSVP HandyHands program serves
low-income seniors and disabled persons throughout Itasca
County by performing minor home repairs,
home maintenance projects and home safety checks to help them maintain
their
independence. HandyHands volunteers donate their time, skills and
labor to provide a safe and comfortable environment in which to live.
HandyHands clients pay for any needed materials.
RSVP BONE BUILDERS

RSVP Bone Builders is an osteoporosis
exercise and prevention program that relies upon weight training to
protect against fractures. Bone Builders participants can
prevent/reverse osteoporosis, improve balance, increase strength,
enhance energy and well-being, and enjoy group socialization.
Health-related topics are discussed at each class to educate and
provide information. Classes are held bi-weekely, are free to all
participants, and are led by trained RSVP volunteers. Currently,
volunteers are needed in all areas of Itasca County. Please call

SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
(SCSEP)

SCSEP is a community service and work based training
program for individuals 55 and older who meet income guidelines.
Enrollees work an average of 20 hours per week at nonprofit or
governmental agencies, gaining skills which help them meet their job
goals. Participants are paid minimum wage during their training.
SENIOR WHEELS

Senior Wheels volunteers provide affordable
transportation to medical or dental appointments for seniors age 60+ in
Itasca
County. Senior Wheels helps seniors who are unable to transport
themselves, do not qualify for other transportation services, and do
not have family members who can assist them.
To qualify for this service the appointment
location must be at least 20 miles one-way from the senior's
home. Cost of the service is based on a sliding-fee system that
follows income guidelines. There is no exchange of money at the
time of the ride. An invoice is sent to the client after the ride
has occurred.
Volunteer mileage is reimbursed at the current federal
rate.

TRIAD (The Right Information And Direction)

TRIAD is a three-way collaborative among the
Itasca County Sheriff, Chiefs of Police and interested seniors. They
work together to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens
and enhance the delivery of law enforcement services to the senior
population. TRIAD provides the opportunity for exchange of information
between law enforcement and seniors and focuses on reducing unwarranted
fear of crime.
