RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) is a national Senior Corps program administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. RSVP offers adults age 55 and over volunteer opportunities where they can apply their skills, talents, and life experience to strengthen their communities. RSVP volunteers serve in a diverse range of non-profit organizations, public agencies, and faith-based groups. ElderCircle RSVP serves the communities of Itasca and Koochiching Counties and is sponsored by ElderCircle, a non-profit agency located in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

ElderCircle RSVP is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, Minnesota Board on Aging, United Way of 1,000 Lakes, United Way of Northeast Minnesota, Koochiching County, and by private donations.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

RSVP is open to anyone age 55 and over. ElderCircle RSVP serves the communities of Itasca and Koochiching Counties and is sponsored by ElderCircle, a non-profit agency located in Grand Rapids, MN.

WHERE DO RSVP VOLUNTEERS SERVE?

ElderCircle RSVP has many volunteer stations throughout Itasca and Koochiching Counties. These stations include hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries, food shelves, senior centers, and other non-profit agencies that need volunteers. Volunteers are matched with stations that best suit their skills and interests to provide the most rewarding and meaningful volunteer experience. Volunteers may choose how and when they want to serve. RSVP offers long-term, short-term, occasional, and temporary placements. Volunteers may also choose to be on the RSVP "S.W.A.T. Team" (Seniors With Available Time) for one-time-only placements such as bulk mailing preparation, assisting with special community events, or blood drive recruiting.

WHAT TYPE OF ACTIVITIES DO VOLUNTEERS PERFORM?

RSVP volunteers help distribute food, provide tax aide and insurance counseling, recruit blood donors, deliver Meals on Wheels, mentor youth, tutor students, are friendly visitors to nursing home residents, serve on boards and committees, knit and crochet items for those in need, shop for and deliver groceries, provide affordable transportation to medical appointments, do small home repairs for seniors to remain independent, assist with bulk mailings, help out at community events, work in thrift stores, participate in intergenerational activities, etc.

HOW DO I ENROLL?

Just call or stop by the RSVP office in your county. Program staff will answer your questions and have you fill out a simple enrollment form, or an information packet can be mailed to you upon request. Volunteer placement opportunities are offered according to the type of volunteer service that interests you. Whether you like working with your hands, reading to children, visiting with the elderly, transporting clients, coaching computer classes, etc..your community needs you! JOIN RSVP TODAY!
